Ingersoll Axle by Dexter Is Thrilled to Launch SMART-STEER 2.0 and SMART-AXL at the 2017 Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville, KY
ELKHART, INDIANA (March 21, 2017) – Ingersoll Axle by Dexter, the leading name in North America for self-steer axles & suspensions for trailers, is launching two new innovative products at the Mid-America Trucking Show held in Louisville, Kentucky March 23 – 25, 2017.
SMART-STEER 2.0 is the next generation of self-steer axles. Ingersoll Axle’s engineering team diligently designed a smarter, easier to use system. This is possible through the introduction of the engineered bolt-on steer arm, allowing quick change in steer angles (12°, 20°, 25°, 28°, & 30°) reducing repair costs and downtime. The advanced, slimmer torpress design eliminates the proportioning valve resulting in better performance, increased reliability, longer life, and ease of service.
“With these three unique features, our self-steer axles are now easier to use, easier to maintain and more cost effective than ever before. You will save both time and money on everything over the life of the product. This translates into higher operating efficiencies and lower costs per mile for fleets using our Ingersoll Self Steer Axle by Dexter,” states Steve McManus, VP of Sales for Ingersoll Axle by Dexter.
Ingersoll Axle’s new SMART-AXL suspension is a top mount integrated suspension system for weight-conscious tandem and tridem applications such as tankers, flat beds, grain and livestock haulers. SMART-AXL is developed with a capacity of 23,000 pounds with ride heights from 14 to 19-inches. The unique suspension design will result in a smooth ride, advanced performance and ultimate durability. The unique patented tri-functional pivot bushing features a voidless design & oval core eliminating a potential failure mode in the industry standard pivot bushing design. The oval metal core provides a 30% larger surface offering better pivot connection clamping to reduce chances of delamination. All parts in the SMART-AXL suspension line are interchangeable with the industry standard translating to less inventory and down time.
“Although we were the pioneers in creating and designing the self-steer in North America others tried and failed to copy our innovative and well thought out designs. Our axles have a proven track record on the roads and highways of North America in all applications,” states McManus. “Adding these new innovations to our already high quality self-steer will always keep us one step ahead of the competition.”
