Dexter, the premier manufacturer and supplier of axles, suspension, brakes, doors, venting products, trailer parts, accessories, and towing components serving the commercial trailer, RV, heavy-duty, marine, agriculture, and manufactured housing markets has an opportunity for a Human Resources Manager at our distribution facility located in Longueuil, Quebec, Canada
We are seeking a self-driven, passionate, experienced Human Resources Manager to partner with and support our Canadian facilities. This role is based in Longueuil and supports the Canada region with approximately 150 employees. Locations include Quebec City, Brantford, Milton, Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Swift Current & Langley.
The Human Resources Manager will serve as a trusted business partner and will be involved in projects that touch all aspects of HR including managing employee relations, interpreting policies and procedures, performance management, hourly recruiting, and hire orientations and onboarding. Strong HR Generalist experience is crucial for this position!
More specifically, this position will be responsible for activities including but not limited to the following:
- Act as an HR advisor to their site leaders and employees to build relationships, provide coaching, counseling, and support as needed.
- Generalist scope of responsibilities to including Employee Relations, leaves of absence, coordinate site efforts such as benefit open enrollment, engagement survey, and other company initiatives.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Overall responsibility for developing HR Policies and Procedures, day-to-day matters among distribution center sites, HR-related investigations.
- Create and deliver employee engagement and retention programs.
- Frequently engages with employees to build a positive rapport and transparent work environment.
- Gather and use data to drive business decisions and initiatives.
- Maintain a pulse on the business and understand HR’s part in supporting the business.
- Able to be onsite and periodically travel to supporting locations – Travel approx. 20%
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources Management, or a comparable discipline or 10 years of related experience.
- Minimum of 3 years related human resources management experience. Distribution center environment is a plus.
- Multi Provence knowledge of labor / employment laws
- Must be bilingual in both English and French languages (written and spoken)
