How to Install a Standard RV Door Latch
Time: Ten minutes
Required Tools & Materials:
- Dexter Right Hand Latch Assembly (990001-01)
- Dexter Left Hand Latch Assembly (990001-02)
- #2 Phillips Screwdriver
Steps:
- Remove your old latch assembly by unscrewing the two screws on the current latch with your Phillips screwdriver and remove the latch.
- Hold your new latch assembly above the two holes for the screws. Tighten the latch with the new screws first using your hand. Then continue to process tightening the screws with your Phillips Screwdriver.
- If you attempt to shut the door and the latch isn’t catching the frame. Unscrew each screw slightly with the Phillips Screwdriver to readjust the position of the latch by sliding the latch left or right.
- Remove the keeper from the door by unscrewing each screw with your Phillips Screwdriver.
- Place your new keeper on the door with the slots over the screw holes. Tighten the keeper with the new screws first using your hand. Then continue to process tightening the screws with your Phillips Screwdriver.
- If you attempt to shut the door and the keeper isn’t catching the door. Unscrew each screw slightly with the Phillips Screwdriver to readjust the position of the latch by sliding the keeper up or down.
- Once the keeper is lined up appropriately, tighten the screws
